Construction Photos

This is an example of an "As Built". This piece of paper should come with any house you purchase. An "As Built" should show the lot, block, and subdivision name (also known as the legal address) in the title block. Also it should list the name of the surveyor, in this case it's Lantech.

On the drawing you will see an N with an arrow. This is pointing north. On the edges of the lot you will see a notation such as: S 32°26'00"E 93.24. This means the lot line runs south at approximately 32 degrees east. 93.24 is a foot measurement, meaning the length of the lot line.

Some of the important features for an "as built" are the location of the house on the lot and the location of easements. In this case, this house is a townhouse, so the side of the house is also the lot line. This is also known as a zero-lot line house.

On this "as built" it is important to notice that the deck is in the easement. This easement is listed as an electrical easement. Since the electrical lines in this neighborhood are underground, it could be possible that the electric utility may remove the deck to reach those lines. As the homeowner, you are responsible for this even if you bought the house with the deck existing.
